Tyler Zetterstrom, Sea Hiker Coach and Partner
"If you become engaged in the learning process, you will be amazing in the water." - Tyler Zetterstrom
Throughout most his life, Tyler understood himself to be a competent and strong swimmer. After all, he had competitive experience growing up, even though he had long lost excitement for swimming in pools. He had also already proven himself to be an excellent freediver and all around waterman through his participation in surfing, sailing, and long-distance open water sea hiking.
After being introduced to a rather different style of swimming, the heart of Sea Hiker coaching, he was astonished to experience a breakthrough in his enjoyment and performance while swimming. Continuing forward he enjoyed the process of refining his technique and the progress on all levels that came with it. Today, as a coach, Tyler has become an innovator with Sea Hiker, introducing many new teaching concepts that have helped revolutionize Sea Hiker's instruction methods.
Since joining Sea Hiker as a coach, Tyler has brought significant contributions in the areas of learning process, detailed skill analysis, and the formation of quick and easy stroke development methods. Tyler has continued to challenge popular assumptions in the swimming and freediving world and shares the fruits of this pursuit with his clients, addressing their needs on an individual basis with accuracy.
"Tyler is the best thing that could happen to Sea Hiker," says Peter Scott, company founder and coach. "His attention to detail and intense passion for making each practice session an opportunity for enjoying the water even more, is inspiring. He has one of the best minds for coaching that I've ever encountered."
Tyler comes from a career in computer programming, IT, and project management, and gladly has been able to channel the skills from those fields into coaching with Sea Hiker. Since joining Sea Hiker in 2008, Tyler has helped many swimmers achieve comfort in the water, fantastic performances, and fluid technique.

"I really enjoy discovering a person's individual learning styles and interests, and then adapting my coaching to introduce new information and skills in consideration of these discoveries. It's a complex and fascinating process, which makes it all the more rewarding. " - Tyler
