Course Details:
Date:

Location:
Coach:

Focus on Streamline:

4x25m: Super Slow Swim, head down
2x25m: Perfect pace, timed, assess effort
2x25m: Pull buoy, timed, assess effort
2x25m: No purposeful kick, timed, assess effort
2x25m: Full inhale and no purposeful kick, timed, assess effort

Explored concepts surrounding different results in time and effort.
Focus was on seeing how body streamline affects performance and how
kick and buoyancy for some participants is having a significant
impact. Some people swam faster without their kick, some really
noticed the change in buoyancy from inhaling more and being careful
not to exhale it all too quickly throughout stroking. I do not
remember going into great detail about what to focus on if removing
the kick induced a dropping of the hips. There were a lot of people
there and I have a feeling after getting feedback I attempted to get
them moving and proceed so we would not be speaking at length. Left
this topic with suggestion of focusing on skills that best support
what they saw in their individual stroke as affected by the various
attempts.

Introduced whip kick

Idea was to suggest that the kick is being used by many ineffectively
and cleaning it up is a first step to reducing energy expenditure from
kicking exhaustively and creating less drag.

2x25m: Small; assess effort and consequence
2x25m: Lead from hip
2x25m: Whip lower leg

2x50m: Average SC per 25m
2x25m: Patient glide
2x25m: Patient glide touch-up (feedback from me and try again)
2x50m: SC - 2 focus on patient glide and slow recovery

This is as far as we made it.

The intention was to finish with:

1x100m: Small kick
2x100m: 100m SC -2, 100m SC
3x100m: 100m small kick, 100m hip/thigh lead, 100m patient glide
