Standing switches with breathing. (5-10 minutes)
Pool practice:
Breathing with fins (review)
- Exhalations (nose and mouth, timing and preferences)
- Head turn (leave crown in the water)
- Pauses to adjust (relax neck / rotation)
- Try without fins
Single switches with breathing - (with fins if needed, let swimmers decide)
* This is a key drill for long term improvement. Does everyone understand why?
- Pause before and after
- Recovery focus
- Entry focus
- Rotation / send energy forward focus
- "Are you in a breathing position (glide)" focus
- Minimize vertical motion
Full strokes without breathing
- Minimize vertical motion drill
- Stroke rhythm lays foundation for synchronized breath (1,2,3)
- Try a breath or two
