Introduction

Pool practice:

Benchmarking and filming of current strokes

Body awareness with main affecters of balance and drag:

  • Head position - lifted, looking forward, resting in the water, holding down
  • Lungs - huge inhale, passive volume, exhale
  • Arms - hands overlapping to form arrow, hands relaxed apart arms straight out from shoulders, wide apart
  • Body Form - long body via engaging core muscles and straightening back, relaxed body form, "noodle" distorted body form

Explore including these in current stroking ability and gather experiences.

Demo of what we can aim for: achievable is a comfort in moving through the water, a quiet experience, that is smooth and graceful. Would you like to explore this experience?

Outlook of our goal and expectation: for now let's not be distracted by an end goal of swimming, instead let's try to be interested in what we can achieve immediately towards our experience of the water during basic motions and postures of our body (foundation). Let's aim for that comfort, quiet, and grace in each form of interaction with the water. When we don't immediately achieve it in one motion or posture, then let's try to work through how to achieve it, as though this one motion or posture is the end goal. Step-by-step we can link the benefits of these foundations together. Swimming will come as a product of this interest, instead of as the focus.
