Program Summary
Struggling to relax in the water? Wish you could swim as easily as you walk?
The Sea Hiker Swim Club for New Swimmers is devoted to helping you achieve confidence
in the water and conquer your swimming demons.
In a fun and relaxed atmosphere learn how you can overcome difficulties with breathing, confidence in the water, and inefficient swimming technique. You will learn the fundamentals for freestyle (front crawl) and backstroke, two key strokes that will help you get the most from your time in the water and build swimming fitness. We will also cover treading water, deep water confidence, and using training tools.
Discover the Sea Hiker coaching method that has helped over 400 novice swimmers transform their swimming in only a few weeks. No previous swimming experience necessary, but you should be able to put your face in the water with some ease. A perfect choice if your goal is to swim your first laps or swim up to 100m with a truly relaxed stroke.
Struggling to improve your swimming efficiency? Not sure how to make progress with front crawl? The Sea Hiker Swim Club will help you achieve confidence in the water and conquer your swimming obstacles. Learn the proven Sea Hiker approach over 8 weeks (two classes a week) and transform your swimming forever!
In the program, you'll learn to overcome the most common obstacles in swimming, such as difficulty with breathing, too much exertion and inefficient stroke mechanics. Discover the coaching that has helped novice swimmers achieve amazing results in the past year. The program includes video analysis, in-water demonstrations in every class, and hands-on coaching.
No swimming experience is necessary, but you should be relatively comfortable in the water. Contact us if you have any questions about the program.
Instructor: Peter Scott, Sea Hiker coach
Prerequisites
No swimming experience necessary, however, you should be realtively comfortable being in the water. If you have fear that prevents you from putting your face in the water with relative ease, please contact us first before signing up. We may recommend Water Confidence private lessons as a starting point.
Is this for me?
If you want to start out with ease, this is the right class. You may also find this class helpful if you have never had lessons for freestyle and backstroke before.
Parking
The YWCA has a parking garage under the facility (on Dunsmuir St). There is also meter parking and paid parking garages in the vicinity.
